| Gavin Clark, sole Director and owner of Slipstream Marine, completed his training as a shipwright/boatbuilder in 1992 after formal training from some of Sydney’s leading boatbuilders including Ian Smith, Graham Faul and the late Dieter Runow at the CYCA. Gavin completed his trade certificate at Ultimo/Meadowbank Technical college.
In 1996 whilst still employed at D&R shipwrights located at the CYC, Gavin set up Sliptream Craft Repairs. This business’ primary function was to repair surf life saving equipment for Sydneys Surf Clubs. The business grew quickly and Gavin became his own employer by the end of 1996. At this time Slipstream Craft Repairs completed a lot of contracting to Beneteau Yachts Australia, Double Bay and Point Piper Marinas in Sydneys East as well as all repairs for surf club craft.
In 2002, Gavin became a tenant at Point Piper Marina and the company evolved to become Slipstream Marine Enterprises Pty Ltd. Slipstream Marine has grown to be one of Sydneys premier Marine repair and restoration companies. In 2006 the company was given the pleasure of restoring one of the worlds finest fast commuter boats, Blue Goose, built in 1927, in Los Angeles. Gavin is also a registered surveyor with the Boat Industry of NSW.
